MYA AND RILEY: PROOF THAT MIRACLES DO HAPPEN
Doberman Rescue of Nebraska welcomed two very special dogs a week and a half
ago.
Mya and Riley, both black and tan, natural ears, docked tails, came to us from a
shelter where they had been sentenced to die because the shelter was full and
their time was up. One of our dedicated volunteers brought both dogs many many
miles to us. We were very excited to meet them so Mary, our adoption
coordinator, went to greet them. She took one look at Mya and rushed her to the
vet.
Mya was diagnosed with a very severe case of pneumonia. The vet called and told
us that she was coughing up blood and it didn’t look good. All of us were
heartbroken. It seemed so unfair to rescue this beautiful young little girl from
death in the kennel only to have her face it from illness! We have a group of
people who pray for our rescue group, the people and the dogs, each day so we
contacted them and asked them to pray for Mya.
We are thankful to say that Mya has escaped death a second time and is making a
recovery. She is still wheezing but out of immediate danger.
Dr. Lee then looked at Riley. He had a big growth on his back and it worried her
and then another blow came: he tested heartworm positive and it was advanced. It
was looking grim again so we asked the prayer group to pray for Riley too.
Riley's "tumor" turned out to be a hernia! He will begin heartworm treatment on
January the 23rd.
We are so thankful that these two young dogs were spared. We at DRON feel that
both of them were given back to us because somewhere out there is a very special
family for each of them. All of our adopters are special but we feel that in the
case of these two they were picked to bless two families who really really need
them. Only those two families know who they are or maybe one family will take
both.
If you are reading this perhaps you feel something tugging at your heart to take
in one or both of these miracles. Both dogs are gentle and loving and will make
a great addition to the home who chooses them. Please fill out an application or
call us at 402-397-1742 if you feel a call on your heart to take in one or both
of these miracles.
If you can't adopt but feel a call to help out in paying for the veterinary
expenses on them that would be great too. Your donations are tax deductible and
would be investing in a life!
A great big thank you to all who pray, encourage, donate and volunteer for our
team and our dogs. We truly could not run this rescue without you.
