Greetings! As 2005 draws to a close and another year begins, Doberman Rescue of Nebraska would like to thank our many volunteers! Some of our volunteers help at fundraisers and public events to get the word out about doberman rescue. Some volunteers transport dogs for vet treatment or from high kill shelters into "safe" kennels. Some volunteers foster, or provide obedience/behavior counseling. Some of you help with your financial gifts. All are so greatly needed and appreciated! At the end of the year, Doberman Rescue looks back at our
accomplishments, made possible with your help. Doberman Rescue of Nebraska
(DRON) rescued, vetted, and rehomed over 50 dogs, each with their own unique
story: Sam is a big rambunctious black and tan dobie with a heart of gold. Sam waited several months in a kennel, then in a foster home for some obedience training, until just last month finding a perfect home with a big back yard and a buddy to play with. Stevie was a breeder dog - her first 6 years were spent in a concrete kennel producing puppies. So after the breeder relinquished her to DRON, and DRON found her a home with a grassy yard, Stevie didn't want to come into the house, but preferred spending the day lying in the warm sun and grass. After hurricane Katrina, DRON volunteered to sponsor 13 "orphans of the storm". DRON has been helped in this endeavor by donations of dog food and kennel space in Omaha and Lincoln, and DRON volunteers threw their resources into an effort to rehome those canine victims of the hurricane. So , for Doberman Rescue, 2005 has been "all about the dogs". By looking at this web site, you see dobies, min pins, and "hybrid" dogs from Mississippi. And even though we are Doberman Rescue, these are all good dogs whose only want is to give you their hearts in exchange for a good home. DRON's goals for 2006 are to continue to rescue, patch up,
and rehome dobermans and doberman wanttobe's. But this year, we want to put
an emphasis on basic obedience training to help that dog be a better canine
citizen.
I think it will be a good year for walking a dog. Bev Sack; Pres. Doberman Rescue of Nebraska |
