OUR DOBIES MAY BE ON TV!
I am sure you have seen a few of the Cesar
Milan shows. He is a dog psychologist, and very successful in all of the
shows I have seen. He selected the Lachney's Coonhound, "Banjo" as a central
feature of his show, to be aired later this year. He arrived at their home
on July 11th and spent the whole day with them. He was also impressed by
their two Dobermans so they asked that, since they were acquired through
DRON that he mention us on the program. We will get the time and date later
and put it on our Website. It will be aired on the National Geographic
Channel. Tain't a sure thing but we can sure use the publicity!
DOBIE TALES
July and August 2006
Here it is summer already! We hope you have been remembering to give your four
footed friends their heartworm pills. If you have not had your pet tested for
heartworms then get to your local Vet as soon as possible and have the test
done. Get those heart worms down your friends throat.
Summer brings all sorts of biting insects and remember to use whatever your Vet
recommends to prevent fly bites and chewing insects.

Some of our wonderful friends have left us this Spring to go over the Rainbow
Bridge.
The following dogs and their owners are listed below.
(List coming)
Our good friends, Janice and Angus Thom of Kansas City Doberman Rescue, lost
their beloved Dobie, Twister. She was an agility dog who came to them after her
owner was killed in an auto accident a little over a year ago. Twister suffered
a case of bloat and went through the surgery with flying colors. She had her
tummy tacked and all went well until she got bloat again recently. She was
operated on, but this time there were problems that could not be corrected.
Twister was put down humanely almost a year to the day she lost her beloved
original owner. Our thoughts and prayers are with Janice and Angus and all our
Dobie owners, and all animals owners who have lost their special friends.
They will remain forever in our hearts.
DUMP DOGS MONTHS
This year has been a very unusual year. We call January and February "Dump
Dogs" months. Dump cats too. That's when we get most of our animals. This year
it started early - right around Christmas. Unfortunately it has continued right
through Spring and into June. We have so many wonderful Dobermans and Dobie
mixes that are looking for their forever homes. Also we still have four Katrina
Dogs who want to go home, too. Two were adopted out together to a very nice
home. They both get along with other dogs - just not with each other. We have
them back now and want to [place them in their forever homes separately. With
other dogs would work. also.
IF you know of anyone who is looking for a good companion to sit on the couch
and watch t.v., lay on the patio while you take a snooze in the hammock, or go
for a run in the cool of the early morning, have we got the special dog for
you!!! Just call us at 402-397-1742 and let us fix you up with your friend for
life.
DONATIONS, DONATIONS, DONATIONS - - - - - "PLEEZEEEEE!"
Along with the dogs that come in, we have special problems with our dogs. We
have a Von Willabrands dog that will need a blood donation when she gets spayed.
She also has a "cherry eye" condition that needs surgery at the same time.
Poor little girl is not even a year old. We are asking for donations for all
the vet expenses for her and all the other dogs that need to be spayed,
neutered, given shots, etc. No amount is too small.
SPONSOR A DOG AT THE KENNELS
With all the dogs we have we do not have enough foster homes. We have to use a
commercial kennels for boarding or refuse dogs. We try not to do turn dogs away
as it would mean euthanasia for most of them. We are looking for foster homes
for our furry friends. IF you cannot foster then please consider donating money
to help defray the expense at the kennels. Five dollars buys a day's boarding
in the kennels, $35 pays for a week. Consider sponsoring a dog for a day, a
week or even a month. For $150 donation we will put your name on the front of
the kennel with the notation that this kennel is sponsored by (and put your name
on the kennel).
Doberman
Rescue of NE participated at the first annual Pet Fair at Offutt AFB on June 3.
Mary Gibilesco and Alice Erftmier represented the group along with Mary's
Doberman, Daisy. This is a picture of Mary with her dog in front of our booth.
